Y'all we've had a massive heatwave hit Portland the past few days! I'm talking 102° all weekend and into this week. I wasn't quite ready to break out the shorts, but was glad I snagged this summery pair from work. They're the perfect length and I love the colors. They're also super soft and comfortable. I'm also loving this Kendra Scott Layden Necklace that's made out of crushed abalone. It adds just the right amount of sparkle to any outfit.

Breaking the Spring/Summer Rules

Like I've said before, until I moved to Portland I didn't own but maybe one plaid item. I've since changed and adopted this Portland staple and I've even been wearing it this spring. Who says you have to put away the plaid when the days start heating up? Not me! This day it was a little chilly so I opted to add a bomber. These SOREL Joanie Mesh wedges are also up for all day wear and are SO comfortable!

Hiatus For Work

I'm all about the work/life balance, and sometimes you just need to stop and focus on work. April and most of May have been so incredibly busy! Here's what I've been up to in photos:

In April we traveled to Austin, TX (home!) to shoot our S/S17 line. I'm so lucky to work for a company that lets me travel home for work. This was an amazing trip!

My parents came down from Dallas and stayed in Austin for a night, once we were done shooting. I was so happy to get to spend a full day in Austin, going back to all of my favorite restaurants and shops.

After hanging out in Austin, I headed to Dallas with my mom and dad for the rest of the weekend.

I'd seen lots of bloggers photograph in front of this wall during the RewardStyle Conference, so I had to bookmark and add to my list of must-hit spots.

After returning home, you've got to spend hours downloading, organizing, and editing photos you took for use in future seasons. Eventually work took over and blogging took a backseat to all the laydowns and shoefies I like to produce for the SOREL social media channels. (Totally not complaining--it takes over because my job hardly ever feels like work to me!)

I think the last time I wore flared jeans was 2001 :) However, we all know the 70's trend is back...especially since festival season is here. I love being able to switch up my usual look of skinny jeans or tights and swap in a pair of comfy wide leg pants. These SOREL Joanie Lace Wedges are also PREFECT and add just enough height so you're not walking all over your pants! (I'm 5'4", and denim length can sometimes be an issue.) I love this top, but for whatever reason I've only been able to find it in-store at F21. Stonehenge aka Washington State

Last weekend Ryan and I traveled to Ellensburg, WA for a track meet and boy were we SO surprised with what we saw along the way! Neither one of us has any idea that the drive would be filled with such sweeping views of the countryside AND a replica of Stonehenge, IRL!

I got this sweatshirt at Old Navy when I visited my family in Dallas the weekend before and I LOVE it because it's a little souvenir from home that I can wear with me anywhere. I also took my new CueroPapel&Tijera mochila (Spanish for backpack) along for the weekend. I've never really carried backpack purses, only backpacks when traveling. I can definitely say this piece was a lifesaver! I was able to put all my things in it for a day at Ryan's track meet (iPad, snacks, sunglasses, lipgloss, keys, wallet, and more!). I'm also obsessed with the color! I would totally recommend this piece if you're traveling. It's always great to have a backpack or cross body that can hold everything you'll need for the day.

I had no idea there was such beautiful countryside just outside of Oregon!

Longer days have arrived and it seems like everyone is in such a great mood, simply because of the sunshine. My favorite part about this time of year is that we've got a good few hours (after spending all day in the office) to enjoy being outside...and no rain!

Anyone else have that issue where you purchase something at the store- and it fits. But, somehow, when you get home it doesn't fit anymore? Well, that exact thing happened with the sweater above. A quick fix is to layer smaller tops with a longline shirt. I love this one because it's a bit gauzy and gives a nice feminine touch.

I am a skinny jeans/legging/tights girl through and through. However, when I was browsing around F21 a few weeks ago, I had to grab this pair of wide-leg pants. Talk about comfortable! These are the next best thing to wearing pajamas in public. They're a bit long for me so I paired them with the SOREL Joanie Mesh Wedges for a little bit of height.
